About the event

Reflections of The Lord Mayor is an annual event that gives us an opportunity to celebrate the vital role of the Lord Mayor of London. One of the oldest continuously elected civic offices in the world, the Lord Mayor plays a vital part in the life of the City and in supporting UK plc. The Lord Mayor’s Appeal Charity is delighted to continue to be partnered with the Reflections of the Lord Mayor event.

The dinner is a fantastic way to reflect on the successes of the Lord Mayor while in office, including the impact the mayoral role has on the charities supported in that year. All profits from the Reflections of the Lord Mayor event go to the charity(s) nominated by the Lord Mayor who speaks at the event.

On Tuesday 01 May 2018,  Alderman the Lord Mountevans, will share his Reflections as 688th Lord Mayor of London. The Sea Cadets, a leading beneficiary of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal Charity, is the chosen beneficiary of this evening’s proceedings.  Read More…

Alderman the Lord Mountevans

Alderman The Lord Mountevans was Lord Mayor of the City of London from November 2015 to November 2016, the 688th person to hold that office in an unbroken sequence going back to 1189. Lord Mountevans will describe experiences from the exceptionally ‘high octane’ mayoral year, with some 100 days overseas visiting 25 countries on 5 continents (among them China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, India and Brazil, but also Cuba – days after the Rolling Stones! – and representing the UK government at the Inauguration of the enlarged Panama Canal). He will also consider the City’s place in modern Britain and share his vision for the City post-Brexit where he will seek to highlight the opportunity.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Donations from the Reflections of the Lord Mayor event – raised from ticket sales and sponsorship – go to the charities nominated by the Lord Mayor who speaks at the event.

While Lord Mayor, Lord Mountevans supported JDRF, the Type-1 diabetes charity and the Sea Cadets.

LMReflects2017 wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our sponsors. A large portion of the reception and dinner costs and the contribution are paid from sponsorships so that we can keep ticket costs affordable.

If you would be interested to hear about some exciting sponsorship opportunities, please do get in touch.

Attendees’ Words

What they say

“Reflections of the Lord Mayor’ has established itself as a part of the City of London calendar. It provides an interesting insight into the life of a Lord Mayor during their year in office. The high-quality event enables people to exchange ideas and thoughts, about the City, its various institutions, the Lord Mayor’s Charities and commerce. Chris Seow does a very good job of interlinking so many aspects of what the City and the Lord Mayor stand for.” David Stringer-Lamarre,

Chairman, IoD London Region

“Reflections of the Lord Mayor of London” has become a regular annual event in my diary. The event gives one an opportunity to meet former Lord Mayors of the City of London and other important dignitaries who matter and have influence in the City. The reception prior to the dinner gives one time to mingle with other guests before settling down to more conversation with guests on the table. I have met a very interesting selection of guests and enjoyed stimulating conversation. Finally, one must not forget the excellent networking possibilities that the evening offers. (Bring plenty of business cards!).

As a sponsor, I find Chris Seow and his team organise the evening brilliantly with great attention to detail. He chooses a suitable high profile venue, with good catering and plenty of space to display banners or other material. I shall certainly continue to sponsor the event.” Azad Ayub,

Founder and Managing Director, Azad Ayub Ltd
